Rename a character

Renaming a character in the cast changes their name everywhere in the story at once: on the keys of every scene, in every line of dialogue, and in your saved teams.

1. In Cast Overview, click Edit on the character.
2. Type the new name.
3. Click Save.
4. If the character is already in scenes, the app asks you to confirm, for example “Rename JOE to JOSEPH in 6 scenes?”. Click Rename.

Names are saved in capitals, as in a script. Two characters can’t share a name, and ACTION, TRANSITION, SHOT and placeholders like NAME-3 are reserved.

To give one scene’s key a different character instead, rename the key in Dictate. See Name your keys.
